This particular branch of the psychotherapy industry seems to be OK with torture.
No wonder they don’t give a shit about the scam perpetrated on regular therapy consumers every day.

As I wrote to someone who just emailed me on more or less this topic:

Ugh. I had to edit your comment down to nothing because 1) it was not at all related to the post and 2) you plugged a whole bunch of bogus therapies.
tsk tsk
“What makes us fearful is that we reject the actual and cling to the illusion.” – J. Krishnamurti
That is such a classic therapist move. Also, you are off-topic again. Final warning.
Hi!
Thank you for the blog. I have a lot of experience with therapists. All in all I can say that psychotherapy is a pseudoscience and if it helps it helps because someone listens one´s problems in emphatetic way. Nothing scientific about that.
I have one really terrible experience with a therapist. Therapy started in a good way but at some point my therapist became unbeleviably arrogant. So I left him but because I was so weak and depressed at the time I couldn´t defend myself against his behaviour. Afterwards I have thinked time and time again what I should have said to that jerk.
Now I´m off therapy and feeling happy again. I have now my own knowledge of what helps. So therapy can be helpful but like you said somewhere in your blog that nobody knows how many bad apples there are.
Well this message isn´t related to your post but I wanted to comment your blog in general. I apologies language errors. My nativelanguage isn´t english as you can see.
All the best!
Yes. I’ve seen more than one therapist sanctimoniously pull out the guru quotes as a defense. It’s always entertaining how therapists “team” with what they consider gurus and “sacred” teachings. They’re playing guru-by-proxy.
Typical therapist.

This article is by Dr. Keith Ablow, psychiatrist, wailing about the increasing suicide rates. I commented that a large problem are therapists themselves.
I CAN believe this! – “Facts About States. . . ”
New Mexico:
Psychologists and psychiatrists were nearly legally required to dress up as wizards when testifying in court. In 1995, the state Senate unanimously passed a bill to require psychologists and psychiatrists to wear wizards outfits and wave a wand when testifying in court because the senators were annoyed with how often their “expert” testimony was relied upon. The bailiff would also be required to dim the lights and ring a gong. The bill didn’t end up passing the state House.

Psychotherapists are useless, deceitful cunts.
I do hope that this comment isn’t too rude for your blog.
Not at all! In fact I think I was remiss in not using the word “cunt” to describe pyschotherapists.
Good article in Counterpunch speculating as to why psychologists are such depraved liars – http://www.counterpunch.org/2014/12/24/weaponizing-psychology/ What he is saying is that there is now too much competition in the market with the growth of associated professions so they’ve had to find new areas of exploitation and fraud.
It is quite interesting but it presupposes that there was some kind of golden age before their drop in fees where they had more respect for truth and integrity. Read Robyn Dawes, House of Cards, Psychology and Psychotherapy Built On Myth and you’ll see that this position is more than a little idealised.
The truth is that psychologists have always had about as much ethical sense as a $10 crack whore with her knickers permanently stitched around her ankles.
The only solution, I’m afraid, is to have all psychologists and psychotherapists gassed.
Excellent article. Thank you for posting it. Do you know if any states have disciplined these psychologists’s licenses? We need to throw the bums out.
